National Wellness Month: Supporting Well-Being with the 4 Pillars of Health
August is National Wellness Month, a celebration of health and well-being started by Live, Love, Spa. This global movement is meant to be a perfect reminder to pause and prioritize your health.
The goal of observing National Wellness Month annually is to encourage small, sustainable changes that promote whole-body wellness, especially in four key areas often referred to as the pillars of health. These are stress reduction, exercise, nutrition, and sleep.
Whether you're looking to start a new routine or reinforce habits that you already have, now is the time to evaluate what makes you feel great and what you can leave behind. Here’s how to support your well-being from the inside out during National Wellness Month, plus a few of our Naturelo favorites that can help along the way.
Prioritize Stress Relief
Chronic stress can take a toll on every system in your body, from digestion to immune function to sleep quality. While daily movement and mindfulness can help, certain nutrients also play a role in mitigating the body’s response to stress.
Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb, has been extensively studied for its ability to promote a sense of calm without making you feel drowsy. Magnesium, known as the calming mineral, is another nutrient to consider that may help you relax and unwind at the end of the day.
Nutrition for Wellness
When your energy is low, everything feels harder. Instead of chasing caffeine highs and sugar crashes, focus on supporting sustained energy and steady blood sugar with a balanced diet loaded with lean protein, fruits, and vegetables.
To plan a balanced meal, the plate method is a great way to start. This is when you divide your plate into quarters filling each quarter with protein, whole grains, vegetables, and fruit. This is a great way to ensure you are getting each of the food groups you need.
Sleep Better to Feel Better
Good sleep is foundational to wellness. Yet stress, busy schedules, and screen time can interfere with both falling and staying asleep. Sleep hygiene, or the activities you do leading up to sleep, have a significant impact on the quality of your sleep. A calming nighttime routine that involves reading, dimming the lights, and disconnecting from devices can help you set the stage for better mornings.
Our Sleep Formula combines melatonin with calming herbs like valerian root, passionflower, and lemon balm to support a restful night without morning grogginess. Taking it 30–60 minutes before bed helps ease the transition into deeper, more restorative sleep.
Move Your Body
Sometimes we think of exercise as tortuous hours grinding it out at the gym, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Movement can be natural and restorative, like a slow walk in a beautiful forest or some gentle yoga before bed.
The important thing is that you try to move your body daily in the way that makes you feel your best. One great way to stay consistent is to involve a friend or loved one in your movement. This makes the time fly by and helps you feel more connected.
Build Consistent Habits with the Right Support
Wellness doesn’t have to mean a full lifestyle overhaul. Even simple daily choices, taking a multivitamin, walking outside, pausing for a few deep breaths, can help you feel more grounded and energized.
